Tonight, I will mostly be drinking...


...Laitilan Kievari Humalainen, a lovely, hoppy, Finnish brewed IPA. Fully recommended for cool, dark, autumn evenings.

  1. Not really even loosely connected (beer isn't mentioned once) but, have you seen the article on Helsinki in the FT by Tyler Brule today. "If you’re looking for a dose of cardamom-scented autumn cosiness, Helsinki’s starting to glow."

  3. Yes, it is nice, isn't it? I prefer it to their Espi (ESB, geddit?), and the EBU rating is higher, though not half as high as the monstrous H.O.D.A. you can also find in discerning supermarkets. By the way, Stockmann (!?!?!) seems to be the cheapest place for Humalainen. And Laitila also have a märzen called Kekri that is an absolute steal in Alko. Unfortunately I don't like it much. Bit too sweet.
