Institutions of one type or another
Last night, after the office Christmas party, we ended up at a club that seems normally to be referred to as an "Helsinki institution". If a night club is known as a "city X institution" does it generally guarantee it will be shit? I wonder if I have unintentionally stumbled onto a universal rule. Doesn't matter anyway. Good mates can make shit places great. They are the real institution.
That's Vanha! I used to work there. I bet it's shit now because I quit running the bar in 99, went to study finance and became a banker.
ReplyDeleteNope, not Vanha. Actually I have some fond memories of club nights in Vanha with great music and an up-for-it crowd. The place in the picture is where the bankers (no disrespect!) seem to go. In fact when we were there, one mate told two other colleagues that they "look just like bankers so fit you in here!" They seemed very slightly hurt. :-) So I was brave and asked her what profession she thought I looked like I should follow. She considered this at some length - as one might expect at the end of a long night out - and said with conviction "bike messenger". And I thought I had dressed up 'smart'! :-(
ReplyDeleteSo what you are trying to say is you have two exceptionally handsome colleagues and you act as their messenger boy?
ReplyDeleteI have absolutely no idea where Finnish bankers go by the way. As for where bankers such as yours truly tend to go, I am actually devestated at the moment. I live in the countryside and the other Michelin star restaurant in our village just lost one of its stars. I'm destitute, don't know what to do. We have guests coming next week. What will they think?
:) Something like that. I like to think that actually she just digs my really firm thighs....
ReplyDeleteIt's Kaarle. I wouldn't take guest there...
