CDG:Term1

You know what they say - that if you put enough monkeys in front of enough typewriters, eventually one of them will write Hamlet? Of course an awful more of them won't. So it must be the same that if you give enough bored punters enough camera phones, eventually one of them will make art. Of course, others won't.

CDG from Toby A. on Vimeo.

This is my latest conceptual work that I'm calling CDG:Term1

I hope you find it as moving an emotional experience to view as I did making it.

I'd be careful where you go filming or the US Gov will give you a free flight and an orange jump suit :-)

The sense of isolation is very powerful. I like the symbolic captain of industry/master of the universe striding alone through the corridors of what I'm presuming is an airport in Paris, but could be a globalised corporation anywhere on the planet. The lack of natural light (we stride purposefully forward 24/7 is the message), and the obscured face speak strongly of the hidden agenda and faceless anonymity of capitalism. Given the current financial crisis I think this work is relevant and important. I bid $10,000. Go to Chicago next, make another.

If you gave a monkey a crayon it would probably design Charles de Gaulle airport.
